BangShift.com Interior How-To: Replacing a Classic 1960s Car Dashboard

I stumbled upon this YouTube channel called Upholstery Tips, and have been entertained and informed on a few fun things since. We recently shared a video where a cool custom console was built for a Chevelle, and in this video we are seeing a dash pad go into a 196o’s Ford Falcon, but it is representative of many of the dashes that are in all the other 1960s cars as well. I know that our 1966 Chevrolet Bel Air has a similar dash in it from the factory and I was so put off by the thought of replacing the dash pad that I just removed it, sanded down the dash, and painted it. The only problem with that is that there are holes in the steel dash that were for fasteners that held the pad in. At some point, I’ll replace it, but if you watch this video I’m sure you’ll want to replace yours yourself as well.

This is not a complicated procedure and the tools required could not be simpler, so take a look at the video and let us know what you think. I personally think any of you out there could do this project on a Saturday and feel pretty happy with how it turns out.
